Why choose the Mastering Mathematics Program?

Due to an overwhelming demand from our community about support in mathematics for students with suspected or diagnosed LDs; the aim of this program is to support elementary and high school students by providing 10-weeks of small group (Max 4:1) multi-sensory remedial mathematics tutoring, twice per week. This program will focus on the fundamentals of Math, by pairing small groups of students with a trained professional.

Program Description

The Mastering Mathematics program is designed to help children in grades 2-10 gain confidence and shift their mindset toward mathematics so that they can achieve academic success. Our trained professionals undergo additional training so they can provide a multi-sensory approach to teaching mathematics and focus on the fundamentals of mathematics: number sense and numeration, patterning and algebra and mathematical application. Building these fundamentals allows us to support any gaps and needs of each child.

As part of the intake process, students will complete a 30-minute assessment with an Centre for Diverse Learners staff member, and be placed in groups, with similar needs, that span a maximum of two grade levels (e.g., grades 1-2, 2-3, etc.). Tutors will work with children in small groups of 2-4 students via Microsoft Teams or in-person for one hour, twice per week for 8 weeks
