2026–2027 Workshop & Connection Series
Thank you to Halton Region for being able to provide Free Monthly Workshops and Peer to Peer Connection Calls.
Welcome to our new community learning space! This year, we’ve redesigned our calendar to offer flexible, accessible learning and connection opportunities tailored specifically for parents, caregivers, and educators of neurodiverse children and youth.
Every month features three distinct ways to engage, learn, and find your community:

Lunch & Learn Sessions (Virtual): 60-minute, bite-sized, practical strategies you can implement right away. Perfect for a quick midday reset.

Evening Workshops (Virtual): Deep-dive sessions with guest experts exploring complex topics in detail, complete with dedicated Q&A time.

Peer-to-Peer Connection Calls (Virtual): A dedicated hour immediately following our evening workshops to drop the formal learning and just talk, share, and breathe with parents who truly understand.

Join Literacy and Learning Specialist Tova Vertes for a hands-on professional development session exploring literacy as an interconnected system. Rather than treating decoding and encoding as separate skills, this workshop focuses on integrating both to support students with complex learning profiles.
Whether you work with students who are strong readers but struggle to write, or those who find reading difficult despite strong oral skills, you will leave with practical, immediate strategies.
Tova Vertes is the founder of Phenomenal Kids, a literacy and learning practice based in Dundas, Ontario, serving children who learn differently. She holds an OG Practitioner credential (IDA Gold Standard), is a Certified Special Education Advocate, and works as an SLPA and OTA, bringing a neuroaffirming, whole-child lens to structured literacy, executive function support, and educational advocacy. She contracts with Little Forest Therapy, helping bridge the gap between language, literacy, and executive function through wraparound SLP and OT support and teammates. Tova is also a certified Acadience Reading K-6 Mentor who trains school staff in literacy assessment selection, and she continues to invest in professional development in assessment and treatment planning to sharpen how she serves her students. At the heart of her work is a commitment to seeing the whole child and finding, and creating, joy and play in learning, reflected in her practice motto, “Different Brains, Same Brilliance.
This is a free workshop and all registered attendees will receive a recording of the session.

Schedule (October 21st, 2026):

12:00 PM EST – Main Workshop Targeted for educators, teachers, and specialists (Grades 1–6 focus), but open to all who are interested.

7:00 PM EST – Peer-to-Peer Session Open to anyone! A dedicated hour to drop the formal learning and just talk, share, and breathe with parents and peers who truly understand.
