Leaps in Literacy

Leaps in Literacy is as a free early intervention literacy program to enable access for as many students as possible. It is a multisensory program to ensure access and support for each student’s unique learning style. The program is based on the most recent science of reading, the OHRC Right to Read recommendations, and the new Ontario Language curriculum.

Lessons are taught by trained staff/educators, and each lesson is broken into short chunks that focus on a different literacy skill to ensure engagement. Staff monitor the groups’ progress and differentiate the lessons for individual students where necessary. Post-program assessments are conducted to determine if gains are being made at an individual and cohort level, and reports are provided to parents on their child’s progress and recommended next steps that they can share with their school team, leading to coordinated reinforcement and additional gains at school.
