Who is Rick Green?

After earning a BSc. in Physics, Rick began creating and presenting educational shows at the Ontario Science Centre.  In 1979, he decided to become a full-time comedian, eventually writing, performing, and often producing and directing, over 700 episodes of television and radio.   He is best known as a member of the groundbreaking comedy group, The Frantics, and as ‘Bill’ the bumbling outdoorsman on the iconic comedy The Red Green Show, a series he co-created, wrote, and for several seasons directed.

As well, he created and hosted the award-winning series History Bites while also writing and playing ‘Commander Rick,’ the host of the acclaimed sci-fi/fantasy/comic book series Prisoners of Gravity.

After being diagnosed with ADHD, Rick and his wife Ava produced an outstanding documentary on adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD) titled ADD & Loving It?!  The program has been hailed as a game-changer by educators, parents, mental health specialists and millions of people around the world who were finally able to understand the reasons they were struggling so hard in life.

A frequent public speaker on creativity, humor, education, and an advocate for adults with ADHD, Rick was honored as one of the University of Waterloo’s Top 50 Science Graduates.  He received the CAMH Foundation’s Celebrity Transforming Lives Award, and has been appointed to the prestigious Order of Ontario and The Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian culture and mental health.
